Full Moon Yang Yin Yoga Practice and Tea Ceremony

​We begin this session with a 60 minute Yang Yin Yoga practice. We prepare ourselves for stillness with some movement and breath work at the beginning of class in order to easefully transition from activities of the day into postures and a mind frame that supports the calming of the nervous system and the opening of the body. Yin Yoga is slow paced style where the postures are held for longer periods of time to create a moderate stress on the connective tissues of the body with the aim to improve circulation, joint health and flexibility. This slow approach is inherently meditative and encourages quiet self reflection, self compassion and relaxation.
The remaining 60 minutes of the session is practiced in a comfortable seat as Kari shares a ceremony called ‘Bowl tea’, which invites stillness, meditation and a deeper meeting with one’s true essence. We can come together to share in silence and relax into the space between the movement of our lives and our minds. We can enjoy the fullness that lives in the emptiness. A warm cup of tea is the perfect companion for stilling the mind and opening the heart to explore deeper within.
The tea meditation ceremonies that Kari shares are rooted in Cha Dao, “The way of Tea” an ancient Chinese lineage. Offered to her through Tea Master WuDe who is based in Taiwan. You can find out more about these teachings and this tea community at theglobalteahut.org.
This session suits absolute beginners and experienced practitioners alike. The studio is regular room temperature for this class.
