Come to East Point and learn what Top Actions YOU can take to help save the SRKW
The Saturna Island Marine Research & Education Society (SIMRES) will be producing a summer-long educational campaign on the ‘Top Actions’ people can take to protect and decrease their impact on our local whale populations, especially the Southern Resident Killer Whales (SRKW). These ‘Top Actions’ are backed by scientific research from The University of Victoria, Marine Education & Research Society (MERS) and the Department of Fisheries & Oceans (DFO). These ‘Top Actions’ include: slow down vessel speed, regularly maintain vessel engines, identify key whale locations, view wildlife with minimal impact & shop locally.
