Itamar Erez is an internationally renowned composer, guitarist/pianist who has shared the stage with such musicians as Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Tomatito, Avishai Cohen, Jean-Louis Matinier, Zohar Fresco, and others. His music blends the delicateness of Middle Eastern music, the freedom found in jazz and the passion of flamenco, creating a unique sound all his own. Itamar lives in Vancouver since 2015 and is on the guitar faculty at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School Of Music. Recently Itamar performed at Carnegie Hall (NY) and Small World Music Centre (Toronto). www.itamarerez.com
Hamin Honari is a Iranian-Canadian hand drummer who plays a variety of Persian hand drums. He has focused on adapting his drumming style and technique to accommodate many different genres of music. He has toured as a member of the Dastan Ensemble, one of Iran’s most well-
known Persian classical music groups and has performed with many amazing musicians and singers such as Salar Aghili, Parissa, Hossein Omoumi, Hossein Behroozinia, Saeed Farajpouri, and Itamar Erez. Hamin lives in Vancouver, BC where he is actively teaching music.
Local Opener: Nicky MacKenzie is an 18 year old vocalist born and raised on Salt Spring Island. She attended the GISPA (Gulf Islands School of Performing Arts) program for four years and took part in the 2017 CBC Searchlight Competition as well as appearing on the first season of CTV’s original series The Launch. After recently releasing her debut album, “Honeydew” (available on all music streaming platforms), she has been continuing to write and make music every day. Summer Outdoor Concert Series is presented by the Salt Spring Arts Council, in partnership with the @The Salt Spring Tuesday Farmers’ Market – 6 evenings featuring great visiting and local musical acts. Concerts take place in Centennial Park, every second Tuesday starting June 18, just after the Tuesday Market, at 6pm.
