Mark those calendars – July 16th is our 3rd event in the Summer Outdoor Concert Series Music starts @ 6PM after Tuesday Market Free and Fun for ALL Headlineing Act: JUNO nominated quintet Aerialists meld their ferociously creative harmonic sensibilities and deep love for folk traditions into a post-rock coloured sound called prog-trad. Featuring Scottish harpist Màiri Chaimbeul (Darol Anger & The Furies, Brìghde Chaimbeul), and Canadian neo-folk innovators Adam Iredale-Gray (Fish & Bird) on guitar and Elise Boeur (Jenny Ritter) on fiddle, the group draws from the wells of Nordic and Gaelic music, adding expansive textures and meticulously sculpted arrangements to create captivating, genre-defying new music. “A veritable (prog-trad) folk super-group whose next moves promise to be extraordinary” – Folk Radio UK “Entire worlds seem travelled… there is a sense of urgency, lightheartedness, menace, and stillness” – Spill Magazine Opening Act: Meghan Laurel is a songstress of mystery woven poetry. Her hauntingly beautiful songs are carefully crafted with mellifluous melodies, dusty rose poems, and a wisdom of the elements transformed into song. Carrying stories from the open prairies of Manitoba to the ocean shore of Salt Spring Island, Meghan’s sound captures the feeling of folk and the spirit of storytelling. Summer Outdoor Concert Series is presented by the Salt Spring Arts Council, in partnership with the SSI Tuesday Market – 6 evenings featuring great visiting and local musical acts.
