Tea à Tempo – TRIO Concordia Constans – Voice and Piano

Wednesday, June 13, 2018 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, TRIO Concordia Constans will be offering a concert of “Afternoon Delights” at All Saints by-the-Sea in downtown Ganges. Singers Connie Holmes, Soprano and Anke Smeele, Alto – accompanied by Pianist /Arranger David Storm – are well-known annual contributors to Tea à Tempo recitals. They regularly perform for residents at care homes and have enjoyed making music together for the past 10 years, exploring a vast repertoire of music for presentations that delight audiences.
The TRIO always aims to create a bit of “heaven on earth” for themselves and their listeners, harmoniously offering songs that highlight shared experiences of the human condition. Darwin observed: “Love is still the commonest theme of our Songs”. At the same time, musicians of the 19th Century such as Brahms, Schumann, and Mendelssohn, were continuing the age-old tradition of setting love poems to music, communicating passionate feelings about life and nature in the process.
In the days before YouTube and the internet, tradition was to share these songs in intimate surroundings such as coffeehouses and house concerts with friends. Replicating this tradition, TRIO Concordia Constans is offering a programme of romantic gems in the lovely harbour view setting of All Saints Anglican “Tea Room”. Well-loved operatic excerpts by Mozart, Bellini, and Gilbert and Sullivan round out this offering of “Afternoon Delights”.
Concert begins at 2:10 pm. Donations are gratefully accepted for the performing artists and for production of the series.
Tea and Treats, for $3.00, are provided by the Anglican Caterers immediately following the concert.
So bring a friend or visitor to the Island, enjoy our Salt Spring Afternoon Delights, and then have a delicious treat afterwards.
Food, friends, and music! What more could you ask for? Hope to see you there.
