Whether you are seeking a technical challenge or an easy nine-holer for practice, the Southern Gulf Islands have notably become a bit of a West Coast destination for the sport.
Salt Spring Island Golf Club
18 holes
Location: 805 Lower Ganges Road, Salt Spring Island.
The Salt Spring Island Golf Club serves the expanded golfing community with its integrated disc golf and traditional golf course. It has 18 holes across large golf greens and uses DISCatcher Pro Targets.
This rolling lush landscape allows for several long shots, starting with a 580-foot first hole. The Golf Club charges $15 per round and also offers seasonal passes if you’ll be around for more than a weekend. Restrooms, water, and a tasty local Mexican restaurant, Paco’s Tacos, are located on-site.
Hart Memorial (Mouat Park)
19 holes
Location: Rainbow Road, Salt Spring Island.
Hart Memorial (locally known as Mouat Park) is an excellent starter course. It’s a great place to start if you are a beginner, and for more experienced players, this course offers a quick round of short forested shots.
This 19-hole course has a mix of tonals and baskets scattered around the ring road of a former campground. It’s free and has a seasonally available porta-potty. However, as a mixed-use park located close to the Ganges, it does see heavy traffic from dog walkers and families who enjoy the same trails. Don’t be afraid to yell “Fore!” before you throw!
Wolf Moon Disc Golf
24 Holes
Location: 226 Margolin Drive, Salt Spring Island.
Wolf Moon Disc Golf is a private course open to the public by appointment with a small donation. Appointments can be made by contacting owner and local legend Jonas, who will happily walk you through the course feature by feature.
This technically challenging landscape features 24 holes mixed between tonals, baskets, and DIY baskets made by Jonas himself. There are several optional playthroughs, including a nighttime Glow option. The property shares space with farm animals, which means dogs are only allowed on a case-by-case basis and only across specific holes.
Ravens Ridge
16 holes
Location: Steward Drive, Mayne Island.
Ravens Ridge is a private, highly-rated forested course open by appointment and for a donation. (Get in touch with Laura to book.)
With 18 holes woven between the trees, this course is technical and challenging, with interesting hazards to consider at just about every hole. Unless you are staying on-site (Ravens Ridge has a vacation rental and a glamping space available for rent), there are no restrooms or drinking water.
Mayne Island Disc Golf
18 holes
Location: Dinner Bay Community Park, Mayne Island.
The Mayne Island Disc Golf Course, established in 2015, is tucked within the coastal ecosystem of Dinner Bay Community Park. This 18-hole course contains both technical and open holes of the basket variety.
On the course, there are restrooms and drinking water available, and dogs are allowed. Remember that you’ll want to bring rainboots if you are playing in the wetter months, as sections of the course can get a bit soggy after it rains.
Golf Island Disc Park
27 Holes
Location: Galleon Way, Pender Island.
In 2022, Golf Island Disc Park was ranked number 18 in the world by UDisc. In 2024, it was also ranked number three in British Columbia. Initially established in 1980, this 27-hole course is beloved by the regional disc golf community.
The course contains both tonals and baskets with dirt tees. Flitting between the trees, this has been called a “creative course” thanks to the formidable holes. The park is a dedicated course strictly for disc golf. It offers restrooms, and is dog-friendly.
Hope Bay Bible Camp
9 Holes
Location: 4302 Bedwell Harbour Road, Pender Island.
When the Hope Bay Bible Camp isn’t busy hosting camps and other private events, it opens up its small, kid-friendly course to the public. Although appointments are required and the schedule changes regularly. (Contact Dustin Heigh to book a time.) Note that as it’s on private property, there are no restrooms or drinking water.
Saturna Island Disc Golf Course
9 Holes
Location: Trueworthy Road, Saturna Island.
Inside Thomson Park is a 9-hole course with brand-new metal baskets. Here you’ll find sweeping ocean views and gentle meandering meadows. This course opened in 2021 and was designed by Graham Garlick, a professional PDGA player and Canadian National Championships winner.
There are restrooms on-site, and dogs are allowed on the course. Every hole features a novice and an advanced tee. Pick up a few discs from the Saturna General Store, stock up on some drinks and picnic items, and then spend an hour learning a new favorite hobby.
