It began when Rebecca first stepped onto her new chocolate path in March 2024, acquiring the business formerly called Harlan's Fine Chocolates. She moved with care to learn about its local history and sought ways to revitalize it for the modern day, while still preserving its roots in community and craft. Drawing on 25 years of experience in business, food, and healing alchemy, Rebecca was intent on listening to and learning from customers as they shared their sweet memories of the shop and favourites from days gone by. 

As a result, Rebecca was able to thoughtfully fine-tune and curate the product offerings to align with the sweet desires of the people and recenter its purpose to be about chocolate as a conduit for love and creating connections.

"Our world and our communities need more love and connection with each other, more than ever," says Rebecca. "Giving and receiving Salt Spring Chocolate is a beautiful way to empower more love in the world, creating simple intentional moments of connection with each other."

Under Rebecca's heart-led leadership, Salt Spring Chocolate is taking chocolate-making beyond confectionery. "It is true that the energy that goes into chocolate can be felt. It is a creative and energetic art form that is heart-opening and creates feel-good emotions. Every bar or chocolate truffle made and every ribbon-tied box is a conduit for a sensory, emotional, and place-based experience.

This renewed vision and business transformation have manifested in a very intentional way. Rebecca has established Salt Spring Chocolate as a premier boutique chocolaterie in the heart of Ganges, connecting its sweet, artisanal creations to the local places, stories, and experiences beloved by the many who visit the island.

One of the shop's most beloved new offerings is the Chocolate Legend Map. This box of chocolates serves as a handcrafted guide to the most cherished places around Salt Spring. From Fairy Forest Raspberry Rose to Beddis Beach Carmel Wave and Fernwood Salty Gumboot, each creation is rooted in local flavours, places, and traditions. It's become a decadent invitation to explore Salt Spring one bite, one story, and one landmark at a time.

As for what the future holds, Rebecca isn't charting the course in rigid terms. Instead, she's letting it unfold following her guiding principle: choosing love. On the horizon are new chocolate creations with healing qualities, expanded seasonal offerings, and a growing online shop to share Salt Spring Chocolate beyond the island.
